Announcement for DACA students

Based upon a recent Supreme Court action, the United States Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) is continuing to accept DACA renewal requests or requests from individuals who previously had DACA. Individuals who have never applied for DACA before cannot apply. Students in doubt as to their eligibility should speak with a qualified attorney or legal representative.
Generally:
STUDENTS WHO PRESENTLY HAVE DACA: Can file to renew their status. USCIS guidelines state that applicants should file 5 months prior to the expiration of their present work permits. USCIS guidelines state that the agency “may” reject applications filed more than 150 days (5 months) before the expiration of the work permit.
STUDENTS WHOSE DACA EXPIRED ON OR AFTER SEPTEMBER 5, 2016: USCIS guidelines allow DACA renewals where the previous status expired less than a year ago. Because President Trump cancelled the DACA program on September 5, 2017, present guidelines allow these individuals to file a renewal application now.
STUDENTS WHOSE DACA EXPIRED BEFORE SEPTEMBER 5, 2016: USCIS guidelines require an individual whose DACA expired more than a year ago to file a new DACA request. Present guidelines suggest that these students can file a new request.
STUDENTS WHOSE DACA WAS TERMINATED: USCIS guidelines permit such individuals to file a new DACA request. Student whose DACA was terminated are strongly urged to speak with a qualified attorney or legal specialist before filing for DACA.
Applications for advanced parole travel permits will not be accepted or approved by USCIS.
