What is Professional Development?
The Professional Development Office is a part of the San Diego Community College District's People and Culture Division. We are committed to supporting the professional growth, well-being, and success of District employees through leadership development academies, training workshops, mentoring programs, and resource referrals. We strive to foster an inclusive, accessible, and supportive learning environment that values neurodiversity, recognizes diverse strengths and perspectives, and promotes equitable opportunities for all employees to learn, grow, and thrive.
Our purpose is to prepare for the next generation of San Diego Community College leaders while enhancing and expanding the knowledge, skills, and abilities of current employees. Our programs include employee orientation, job performance and management training across key subject areas, personal enrichment workshops, and leadership development academies that support succession planning. Through these offerings, we are committed to incorporating accessibility, inclusive practices, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches to professional development, ensuring that learning opportunities are designed to support diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Professional Development Office is to assist and support staff in the pursuit of personal and career development. This development will enhance employee performance and heighten productivity, thus optimizing personnel resources in the pursuit of the District's goals to provide high quality learning experiences for the San Diego community.
