Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion: Action items were reviewed with the Design-Build Entity (DBE), PMO (Program Management Organization) and City leadership on Jan. 7.
  1. Harry West Gym: HVAC project design kickoff held on Jan. 6.
  1. Garfield Parking Structure Elevator: Board approval received; Notice of Award (NOA) issued and pending contract execution.
  1. Soccer Field Turf Replacement: A punch walk completed on Jan. 6.
  1. LRC Boiler Replacement & Air Handling Unit: Board approved contract for ACCO Engineered Systems. NOA issued; construction underway and is scheduled to complete by Jan. 23, pending contract issuance.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: Final program documentation and budget augmentation coordination continued with campus leadership and PMO.
  1. Athletics Complex: Additional conceptual design coordination completed; budget augmentation near finalization.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Design development deliverables under review by PMO and district design team.
  1. A100 Building Transformer Assessment: Transformer shutdown and assessment completed; MCMC Contracting has initiated repair/replacement actions. Replacement design proposal submitted by H+W to the Division of the State Architect (DSA) last week.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: Program deliverable document comments provided to the DBE.
  1. Early Education Center: Program deliverable document comments provided to the DBE.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. West City Expansion: Stakeholders toured Mesa College Culinary Arts Restaurant on Jan. 7 to inform programming.

 

 Other District Locations:

  1. District Services Center South Re-Roof: Construction kickoff meeting held Jan. 9.

 

Coming Week Look-Ahead:

 

City College:

  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: Executive update scheduled for Jan. 13. Final programming presentation scheduled for Jan. 16.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: Leadership coordination meeting scheduled for Jan. 14.
  1. Garfield Parking Structure Elevator: Board approved contract for elevator replacement by 24 Hour Elevator, Inc. NOA issued pending contract issuance.
  1. Parking Gate Replacements: Construction anticipated to be completed by Jan. 15 for gate replacements at Career Technology Center (“V” Building) and Mathematics and Social Sciences (“MS” Building).

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: Initial blocking and massing concepts to be reviewed with the district design team and PMO. Site utility coordination to begin.
  1. Athletics Complex: Additional concept design workshop scheduled; campus to submit funding request.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Scope validation and budget refinement to be completed.
  1. Building S-100 Rooftop AC Replacement: Board action scheduled for Jan. 16 for direct purchase of replacement rooftop units.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: Revised program deliverable to be resubmitted; funding request preparation underway.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The DBE will revise the program deliverable to reflect Miramar and district team comments and resend it for approval. The campus plans to submit the additional funding request form to the district.
  1. Early Education Center: Revised program deliverable to be resubmitted; funding request preparation underway.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. West City Expansion: Final programming presentation scheduled for Jan. 14.

Key Items of Interest:

  1. Perceptive (Hyland) Invoice Automation Upgrade: Subscription expansion to support increased Measure HH invoice volume, ensuring continued processing capacity and timely payments across the district.
  1. Accessible Wayfinding and Parking Signage (City College): Updated tactile and visual signage being installed and van-accessible parking improvements being made at priority locations.
  1. Building “A” Security Improvements (City College): Installation of new fencing and swing gates is underway; improvements will strengthen perimeter security.
  1. Emergency Call Boxes (City College): Two emergency blue-light call boxes will be installed to enhance campus safety near the “R” Building and adjacent parking.
  1. LRC Elevator Replacement (Mesa College): Notice to Proceed issued; construction scheduled for completion in fall 2026.
  1. Building S-100 Rooftop AC Replacement (Mesa College): Board action scheduled for Jan. 16 for direct purchase of replacement rooftop units.
  1. CE Miramar College Campus – Child Development Center: Roof addition is needed by the designated storage area. DSA permit will be required for conversion; additional scope will require A/E consultation.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) South Entrance Accessibility Upgrade: Campus requesting installation of a dual-swing automatic door operator to improve ADA access and pedestrian flow during theater construction detours.
  1. Campus Safety Enhancements (College of Continuing Education): Panic button installations to improve emergency response capabilities are being planned for CE’s Mesa and West City campuses.

  1. Gym Floor Repair/Replacement: Campus direction needed by Jan. 16 to meet summer 2026 installation timeline.

Miramar College:

  1. Early Education Center: District direction needed for inclusion of additional classrooms, pending program submission and funding approval.
