Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:
City College:
- “A” Building Expansion: Geotechnical and seismic exploration in Lot 10 occurred Jan. 12–16. A programming validation meeting with the deans was held on Jan. 16.
- Saville Theatre Replacement: An executive update meeting was held Jan. 13, and the final programming presentation was made Jan. 16.
- Parking Gate Replacements: Suffolk Construction (general contractor) conducted in-service owner training on Jan. 14. The final punch list walk occurred on Jan. 15 for gate replacements at Career Technology Center (“V” Building) and Mathematics and Social Sciences (“MS” Building).
Mesa College:
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: Initial blocking and massing options were reviewed with the district design team, the Program Management Organization (PMO), and campus leadership. The design schedule and final program review process were reviewed with the Design-Build Entity (DBE), which continued documenting the final program and criteria.
- Athletics Complex: Campus stakeholders, leadership, the DBE, and the PMO finalized the budget augmentation request and presentation for the committee meeting on Jan. 16. An additional conceptual design meeting with the DBE, PMO, district, and campus stakeholders was held on Jan. 16.
- Design Center Improvements: The design development phase deliverable was reviewed by the PMO, district design team, campus stakeholders, and architect team.
- Baseball Home Run Fence: Netting work is underway with Scott Fence and is expected to be completed by the end of February.
- Building P-300 Roof Repair & Clerestory Glazing Sealant Roof: Construction began the week of Jan. 19.
Miramar College:
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The campus issued an additional funding request form to the district.
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The campus issued an additional funding request form to the district.
- Early Education Center: The campus issued an additional funding request form to the district.
- Building C-3 Roll-Up Door Repairs: A Notice to Proceed (NTP) was issued to Vortex Industries, LLC.
College of Continuing Education:
- West City Expansion: The final programming presentation was held on Jan. 14. A program estimate review meeting with DPR Construction was held on Jan. 15.
- Mid-City Renovation: A leadership group meeting was held on Jan. 16.
- Campus Identity Banners: 60% progress drawing set and structural calculations received.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:
City College:
- “A” Building Expansion: A check-in meeting with the DBE is scheduled for Jan. 21.
- Saville Theatre Replacement: A check-in meeting with the DBE is scheduled for Jan. 21. A “design safari” at Southwestern College is scheduled for Jan. 23.
- Affordable Student Housing: A contractor outreach event is scheduled for Jan. 22 to solicit interest from lower-tier businesses and diverse suppliers.
- Garfield Parking Garage: Contract start with 24-Hour Elevator is pending insurance and bonding.
- Harry West Gym – Goat Trail Fence: Proposal from BWE Structural Engineering is expected week of Jan. 19.
- Building A-100 Transformer Evaluation & Replacement: After the shutdown was completed by MCM Construction, an investigation report is being prepared to report on the cooling oil test results. H+W Architects are to provide a proposal for transformer replacement by Jan. 23.
Mesa College:
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The DBE will focus on site utilities and meet with district and campus facilities, maintenance, and operations teams the week of Jan. 19. The budget augmentation request submission and presentation are scheduled for Feb. 27.
- Athletics Complex: The DBE will hold an additional concept design workshop with the PMO, district design team, and campus stakeholders, and prepare student engagement workshops on Feb. 4 and 12.
- Design Center Improvements: The district design team and PMO will continue scope and budget validation with facilities and stakeholders.
- Soccer Field Turf Replacement: The final acceptance walk is scheduled for Jan. 26.
- Commons Roof Gutter: Zenith Construction will begin the project on Jan. 26. It is expected to last one week.
Miramar College:
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The DBE will revise the program deliverables to reflect Miramar and district team comments and resend for approval.

- Building C1 and S6 Mechanical Air Handling Unit (AHU) Replacement: Shadpour Engineering is working on the 30% schematic design set, with submittal to the district anticipated Jan. 30.
- Pool (Deck Surfacing and Drains): tBP Architects is completing the schematic design phase, with deliverables due Jan. 26.
College of Continuing Education:
- West City Expansion: A program estimate review meeting with DPR is scheduled for Jan. 20.
