Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion: A program follow-up meeting with City College deans was held on Jan. 22.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: A “design safari” at Southwestern College (SWC) was held on Jan. 23. The design team and Saville theatre stakeholders toured the SWC Performing Arts Center to ask critical questions about the designs they observed.
  1. Affordable Student Housing: A contractor outreach event with CBG Building Company was held on Jan. 22 to promote remaining lower-tier and supplier opportunities for local, small and historically underutilized businesses.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The Design-Build Entity (DBE) is focused on site utilities and the parking structure. A coordination and phasing meeting with the DBE, district design team, and Program Management Organization (PMO) was held on Jan. 20.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Design development review comments from the district and campus were provided to the design team. The PMO requested a 100% cost estimate at the design development phase.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The district and Miramar teams received the revised program deliverable document from the DBE, and it is now under review.

College of Continuing Education:

  1. West City Expansion: A program estimate review meeting with DPR Construction was held on Jan. 20. A geotechnical coordination meeting with NV5 was held on Jan. 21.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC): A welding switchboard feeder and tap scope coordination meeting with Randall Lamb (consulting engineer) was held on Jan. 21.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:

 

City College:

  1. Outdoor Athletics Expansion & Upgrades: A final programming and criteria presentation is scheduled for Jan. 27.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: The final programming presentation is scheduled for Jan. 30.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: Programming-to-schematic design workshop #5 is scheduled for Jan. 30.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The DBE will deliver the final programming document to the district on Jan. 26 and conduct page-turn review on Jan. 27. Page-turn workshops with campus stakeholders are scheduled for the week of Feb. 2.
  1. Athletics Complex: The DBE will hold an additional concept design workshop with the PMO, district design team, and campus stakeholders on Jan. 23, followed by physical planning/site meeting #3 on Jan. 27.
  1. Design Center Improvements: The district design team and PMO will continue reviewing scope, budget, and design review feedback.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The district and Miramar teams will review the updated program deliverable to confirm comments have been addressed.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The DBE will revise the program deliverable to reflect district and campus comments and resubmit it for approval.
  1. Early Education Center: The district and Miramar teams will review the updated program deliverable document to confirm comments have been addressed.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. West City Expansion: A program estimate review meeting with DPR Construction (Part II) is scheduled for Jan. 27.
  1. Mid-City Renovation: A program scope options meeting is scheduled for Jan. 30.

Key Items of Interest:

  1. Measure HH Website: Currently being updated and will launch the first week of February to provide more information and greater ease of navigation.
  1. Measure HH Communications Team: Working with campus PIOs to ensure Measure HH information stations or materials are available during Welcome Week of spring classes on all campuses. More semi-permanent information kiosks are also being explored.
  1. Outreach Events: Planning is underway for February and future months to promote Region 3 (Cumming Group) projects and contracting opportunities for small and historically underutilized businesses.
  1. Project Signs: Signs are being fabricated and will soon be installed for the affordable student housing site at City College and the future Mid-City campus location. The signs will be large and visible to vehicles and pedestrians.

 

Upcoming Needed Campus Action Items (Time Sensitive):

College of Continuing Education:

  1. ECC Theatre Room Renovation: Furniture fabric selections were presented to the Executive Planning Committee on Dec. 3. Comments are due by Feb. 16 to keep furniture procurement on schedule.

Miramar College:

  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The DBE is awaiting district direction on the recommended program scope, pending approval of additional funding by the Executive Project Review Committee. Schematic design has been delayed from Jan. 5 to Jan. 23 and may shift further until the committee meets Feb. 27, the latest possible approval date.
