Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion: Programming-to-schematic design workshop No. 5 was held on Jan. 30.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: A final programming presentation was held on Jan. 30.
  1. Outdoor Athletics Expansion & Upgrades: A final programming and criteria presentation was held on Jan. 28.
  1. Career Center Room 301 Remodel: The project entered the closeout phase, with furniture move-in on Jan. 28.
  1. Arts & Humanities (Building AH) Overhead Garage Door Replacement: The first of two pre-bid job walks was held Jan. 30.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The Design-Build Entity (DBE) presented programming documents to the district design team and Program Management Organization (PMO) on Jan. 26 and reviewed them with campus leadership on Jan. 29. PMO and DBE met on Jan. 28 to address site access, logistics, utilities, and parking.
  1. Athletics Complex: The DBE, district design team, campus staff, and PMO reviewed site conditions during the third physical planning meeting. Coordination and stakeholder meetings were held Jan. 28 and Jan. 30.
  1. Design Center Improvements: The PMO continued Design Development (DD) review with campus faculty and worked with Kitchell Estimating on the 100% DD estimate.
  1. Lighting Inverters Replacement: The first of two pre-bid job walks for replacements at seven buildings (MT, BT, Q-100, Q-200, S, Stadium East, SB) was held Jan. 30.
  1. Mesa Commons Roof Gutter: Construction by Zenith Construction began Jan. 26.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The project team met with the IT team to review Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower and En Route program computer systems.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The district and Miramar teams received the revised program document from the DBE addressing district and campus comments.
  1. Early Education Center: The district issued a notice to the DBE to proceed with the schematic design phase.
  1. Lighting Inverters Replacement: The first of two pre-bid job walks for replacements at nine buildings (J, P-1, K-2, G-4, H, N, S-6, G-3, C-2) was held Jan. 30.
  1. Police Academy (Public Safety Building A2, “MAT” Room) HVAC Replacement: The first of two pre-bid job walks was held Jan. 30.
  1. Diesel Technology (Building C1) and Science Technology Center (Building S6) Mechanical Air Handling Unit (AHU) Replacement: Schematic design drawings by Shadpour Engineering were submitted to the district for review on Jan. 30.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. West City Expansion: Part two of the program estimate review with DPR Construction (contractor) was held Jan. 27.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Building Trades Training Center Renovation: A final programming meeting was held on Jan. 27.
  1. Mid-City Renovation: A program scope option meeting was held on Jan. 30.

City College:

  1. Affordable Student Housing: Safety Training Education Access Meals (STEAM) programming meeting with The Michaels Organization is scheduled for Feb. 2.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: A design meeting is scheduled for Feb. 6.
  1. Career Center Room 301 Remodel: Staff expected to occupy the space by Feb. 2.
  1. Student Affairs (Building M) Backflow Water Valve Replacement: Installation is scheduled for Feb. 7.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The DBE, district design team, and PMO will meet with campus and district staff on Feb. 3 to discuss site and utilities and with stakeholders Feb. 5–6 to review programming documents.
  1. Athletics Complex: The DBE, campus stakeholders, and PMO will host the first student engagement workshop on Feb. 4 and hold a second focus group meeting with the district design team on Feb. 6.
  1. Design Center Improvements: The district design team and PMO will continue reviewing, validating, and providing feedback on the 100% DD.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The district and Miramar teams will work on scheduling schematic design meetings with stakeholders the week of Mar. 2.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The district and Miramar teams will review the revised program document from the DBE to confirm it addresses the district and campus comments.
  1. Early Education Center: The district and Miramar teams will hold schematic design meetings with stakeholders the week of Mar. 2.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. ECC Community Room: A design development document ‘page turn’ session with District Facilities Management is scheduled for Feb. 6.

 

Other District Locations:

  1. Access Control Upgrade Project: A coordination meeting was scheduled for Feb. 2.
  1. District Services Center Roof Repair (South Portion): Construction is scheduled to begin Feb. 4.

 

Key Items of Interest:

  1. RFQ: The district issued an RFQ for enhanced Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) and logistics management services, including planning, procurement tracking, and move coordination, to support Measure HH projects. Proposals are due Feb. 9.

  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The DBE is awaiting district guidance on the recommended program scope, pending approval of additional funding by the Executive Project Review Committee, with a latest possible decision on Feb. 27.
