Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: Schematic design kickoff and pull planning meeting held on Feb. 23. Programming completion recap and schematic design kickoff event held Feb. 27.
  1. Emergency Call Boxes: Final programming for the call boxes completed on Feb. 26.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Athletics Complex: The Design-Build Entity (DBE) presented the final programming deliverable to the project team and district leadership design team on Feb. 24.
  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: Campus leadership and the Program Management Organization (PMO) met with the Executive Project Review Committee on Feb. 27 to review an additional funding request.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Revised proposals for additional design scope and 50% construction drawings were received.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The project team held a program completion celebration and a schematic design kick-off meeting with campus stakeholders on Feb. 27.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The DBE hosted a virtual outreach event on Feb. 24 to connect with subcontractors, including small and historically underserved businesses; 25 people attended. Campus leadership and the PMO met with the Executive Project Review Committee on Feb. 27 to review an additional funding request.
  1. Early Education Center: Campus leadership and the PMO met with the Executive Project Review Committee on Feb. 27 to review an additional funding request.
  1. Diesel Technology Overhead Doors (Building C-3): Construction began on Feb. 23.
  1. Parking Overhead Door and Gates Replacement (Buildings G3 & G4): OBR Architecture addressed Feb. 24 district review comments on the 60% schematic drawings in preparation for the 90% construction documents.
  1. Police Deck Landing Pedestrian Bridge (Building A-2): The design fee proposal from BWE was received on Feb. 20.
  1. HVAC Mechanical Upgrade (Building S-6): The district provided comments on the 60% design development drawings on Feb. 23.
  1. Diesel Technology Mechanical Roof Top Unit (RTU) Replacement (Building C-1): The 30% schematic design submittal was sent to the district on Feb. 23.
  1. Roofing Repairs – Business & Math (Building M), Arts & Humanities (Building H), and College Police (Building T1): The 80% design development drawing package review comments were received from the district on Feb. 24.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. CE Mesa Building Envelope: The design kickoff meeting was held on Feb. 25.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Theatre: Site walk with President King’s Executive Governing Committee held on Feb. 25.
  1. CE Cesar Chavez Parking Structure Overhead Door and Gates Replacement: The 60% design development drawings were approved by the district on Feb. 25.
  1. Mid-City Expansion: The team is working on preparing the Request for Qualifications (RFQ)/proposals, which will be issued in March.
  1. Food Pantry: The Community Food Pantry at the ECC has been relocated to the south of the campus administration building to allow for greater access and better service to the surrounding community. It reopened the week of Feb. 23.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:

 

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion: An introductory meeting with the City of San Diego Fire Department to review the proposed building footprint and discuss fire truck access and hydrant requirements is scheduled for Mar. 3.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: An interactive meeting with the City College Association of Student Government is scheduled for Mar. 4.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The Program Management Organization (PMO) and district design team will continue providing feedback to the DBE on the programming and facilities Request for Information (RFI) log.
  1. Athletics Complex: The DBE will provide the programming-phase cost estimate Mar. 6 and continue preparing proposed geotechnical investigation/boring locations for district review.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Design team continues working with additional consultants on final design and 100% CDs.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The district and Miramar team will arrange schematic design meetings with the stakeholders for early March.

  1. CMAA San Diego Owners Night: SDCCD has been invited to participate in this annual event, to be held at San Diego State Mar. 5.
