Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:
City College:
- “A” Building Expansion: An introductory meeting with the City of San Diego Fire Department to review the building footprint and fire access, followed by a programming revisions review with President Shabazz, was held on Mar. 3.
- Saville Theatre Replacement: An interactive meeting with City College Association of Student Government was held on Mar. 4, followed by a schematic design Performing Arts Center (PAC) focus group meeting on Mar. 6.
Mesa College:
- Athletics Complex: The Design-Build Entity (DBE) submitted the programming-phase cost estimate and the proposed geotechnical investigation scope and requirements document on Mar. 6.
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking: The district design team and Program Management Organization (PMO) reviewed the programming deliverable submitted Mar. 6 and coordinated revisions to the geotechnical investigation scope and logistics with the DBE.
- Design Center Improvements: Revised additional services proposals and the 50% Construction Drawings (CDs) were received and reviewed. Next steps are to finalize CDs and submit to the DSA.
- Gym Floor Repair: The Kya Group (contractor) submitted a revised striping plan to the campus for approval on Mar. 3.
Miramar College:
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The project team met with the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority on Mar. 5 to review design status and construction logistics requirements.
- Overhead Door Replacement for Advanced Transportation Technology (Building C-3): Installation of Bay/Door #2 and #5 was completed, with acceptance walks held on Mar. 5 and 6.
- HVAC Upgrade Public Safety (Building A2: 2-Offices/10-Classrooms): Emergency declaration funding was approved on Mar. 3.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:
City College:
- “A” Building Expansion: A design meeting is scheduled for Mar. 11.
- Overhead Garage Door Replacement at Arts & Humanities (Building AH): The project will be on the Mar. 12 board meeting docket, with a recommended contract award for Creative Builds, LLC.
- Graphic Design Center Remodel at Arts & Humanities (AH): Design development drawings are expected to be submitted by Mar. 12.
- Fluid Applied Roofing at Learning Resource Center (LRC): A job walk is scheduled for Mar. 13.
Mesa College:
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The PMO and district design team will continue providing feedback to the DBE on the programming and facilities Request for Information (RFI) log. The PMO, DBE, and Kleinfelder (geotechnical consultant) will finalize the scope.
- Athletics Complex: The PMO and district design team will continue providing feedback to the DBE on the programming and facilities RFI log. A final review of the programming deliverable with a steering committee formed of campus, district, and project representatives is scheduled for Mar. 12. A meeting to review the geotechnical scope and prepare a proposal will be scheduled soon.
- Design Center Improvements: The design team will coordinate with additional civil engineers to finalize the design and complete the 100% CD.
- Lighting Inverters Replacement - Math & Science (MS), Business & Technology (BT), Police Offices (Q100 & Q200), Allied Health Education (S), Social Behavioral Sciences (SB), and Stadium East Buildings: The project has been docketed for the Mar. 12 board meeting, with contract award pending board approval.
Miramar College:
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The design team will submit the schematic design package for district and campus review on Mar. 6.
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The district and Miramar team will schedule schematic design meetings with stakeholders in early March.
- Early Education Center: The district and Miramar team will schedule schematic design meetings with stakeholders in early March.
- Mechanical Roof Top Unit (RTU) Replacement at Diesel Technology (Building C-1): District review comments on the 30% schematic design are due by Mar. 9.
- Roofing Repairs – Business & Math (M), Arts & Humanities (H), and College Police (T1): The 90% construction documents are expected by Mar. 13.

- HVAC Replacement at Police Academy (A2 Mat Room): The project has been docketed for the Mar. 12 board meeting, with contract award pending board approval.
- Parking Garage Overhead Doors at Building G3 and G4: OBR Architects are advancing the 90% CD/Bid set; drawings are due on Mar. 13.
College of Continuing Education:
- ECC Theatre Renovation: An outdoor furniture discussion is scheduled for Mar. 12.
- CE Mesa Building Envelope: An improvements design meeting is scheduled for Mar. 11.
Other District Locations:
- District Office/District Service Center 1450 Frazee Planning and Programming Study: A second follow-up meeting is scheduled for Mar. 9. The final report is expected to be completed by the end of March.

- Mid-City Expansion: Request for Qualifications (RFQ)/proposals for the site acquired on El Cajon Blvd is scheduled for release on Mar. 10.
Upcoming Needed Campus Action Items (Time Sensitive):
Miramar College:
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The design team is awaiting direction from the district on increasing the project scope to the recommended budget option presented to the Executive Project Review Committee on Feb. 27. The schematic design phase start has been delayed to Mar. 9 (originally Mar. 2) and will continue to adjust until approval is received.
- Early Education Center: The design team had planned a schematic design meeting with stakeholders to complete schematic design documents by Mar. 2. The campus has notified the team that the meeting cannot be scheduled until Mar. 16, pushing the anticipated schematic design phase completion to Apr. 28 (originally Apr. 14).
