Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: A structural and geotechnical coordination meeting was held on Mar. 18. A second schematic design focus group meeting was held on Mar. 20.
  1. Harry West Gym HVAC: An AC design meeting was held on Mar. 17.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: Required forms were submitted to the Executive Project Review Committee on Mar. 20 to request a budget increase.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking: The Design-Build Entity (DBE) was granted approval to proceed with schematic design. Kleinfelder was issued a Notice to Proceed (NTP) on Mar. 16 for the geotechnical investigation scope.
  1. Athletics Complex: The DBE was granted approval to proceed with schematic design.
  1. Design Center Improvements: The district continued revising and reducing design service proposals for expanded scope and continued reviewing the 50% Construction Drawings (CDs).

 

Miramar College:

  1. Early Education Center: The design team held a schematic design meeting with stakeholders on Mar. 16 focused on the building layout.
  1. HVAC Replacement at Police Academy (A2 Mat Room) Building: A preconstruction kickoff meeting was held on Mar. 17 with Able Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. West City Expansion: A program estimate review meeting with the DBE was held on Mar. 16.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Building Trades Training Center: A design focus meeting with Lincoln Electric (welding equipment supplier) was held on Mar. 17.
  1. Mid-City Expansion: A Request for Information (RFI) session for the Mid-City Expansion Request for Proposals (RFP) was held on Mar. 19 at the College of Continuing Education North City Campus.

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion: A DBE team briefing to the Association of Student Government (ASG) is scheduled for Mar. 25. An Executive Project Review Committee meeting to review a budget increase request is scheduled for Mar. 27.
  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Fluid-Applied Roofing: The project will go out to bid on Mar. 25.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The district and DBE will meet Mar. 23 to review final program revisions and conduct a preconstruction site walk. The district will continue providing feedback on the programming and facilities RFI log, with a project coordination meeting on Mar. 25.
  1. Athletics Complex: The district will continue providing feedback to the DBE on the programming and facilities RFI log, schedule a meeting to review the geotechnical scope and prepare a proposal, and hold a project coordination meeting on Mar. 25.
  1. Design Center Improvements: The design team will coordinate with consultants to finalize the design and complete the 100% CDs.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The district will review the schematic design submittal package.
  1. Building N & M Tree Trip Hazard Mitigation: Contract is being prepared for PowerOn Energy to address seven tree-well tripping hazards.
  1. Lighting Inverters Replacement covering Gym (J), Aquatic Center (P-1), Student Resource Center (K-2), Parking Garage (G-3 & G4), Arts & Humanities (H), Administration (N), Science (S-6), and Advanced Transportation (C-2) Buildings: A construction kickoff meeting with Ready Enterprise is scheduled for Mar. 27.
  1. Science (S6) Building Mechanical Upgrade: The 90% construction documents set is anticipated on Mar. 24.
  1. Mechanical Roof Top Unit (RTU) Replacement at Diesel Technology (Building C-1): The 60% design development set is in progress and due Mar. 27.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. West City Expansion: A program estimate review meeting with the DBE is scheduled for Mar. 16.
  1. CE Mesa Building Envelope: A design meeting is scheduled for Mar. 25.
  1. Vocational Nurse Simulation Lab Program: A planning meeting with the Dean and HGH Architect is scheduled for Mar. 24.
  1. Promotional Banner Project: A contractor bid walk is scheduled for Mar. 27.

Key Items of Interest:

  1. CBOC Meeting: The Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) held its quarterly meeting on Mar. 16 and received updates on the district’s financial audit as well as updates on Measure HH accounting practices and an overview of all Measure HH projects. The CBOC is an independent group of community volunteers appointed to monitor the expenditure of voter-approved bond funds.
  1. San Diego Business Journal Interview: Vice Chancellor Joel Peterson was interviewed by the San Diego Business Journal on Mar. 19 for a story about how, through Measure HH, the district is piloting several emerging energy technologies designed to make its campuses more resilient and less dependent on the traditional power grid.
  1. Measure HH Student Advisory Council: The Measure HH team will be conducting presentations on all district campuses to solicit interest from students to serve on a Measure HH Student Advisory Council. The council would meet quarterly and provide input and ideas to the Measure HH team as it relates to bond-related projects and programs.
