Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. Outdoor Athletics: A design meeting was held on Apr. 13.
  1. Harry West Gym Facilities: A site walk was held on Apr. 13.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Design Center Improvements: The courtyard landscape scope was finalized the week of Apr. 13.
  1. Baseball Field Home Run Netting: Campus acceptance of project completion was received on Apr. 14.
  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The schematic design workshops for outdoor programming, administration suite, music, VPA/business services, scene and costume shops, and site/parking were held from Apr. 14–16.
  1. Athletics Complex: An initial schematic design meeting was held on Apr. 17.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center (AIC): The district sent a memo to the City of San Diego on Apr. 13 outlining program needs and identifying a path forward for the land lease. The City is exploring alternative options for swing space or a final AIC location.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The Design-Build Entity (DBE) evaluated alternate floor level options for venue 2, the black box theater. Miramar leadership selected the second floor, with the addition of an elevator, on Apr. 15.
  1. Early Education Center: On Apr. 15, the district design team and DBE held a workshop with campus facilities staff, and stakeholders conducted a site walk with the landscape architect to review landscaping preferences.
  1. Police Academy (A-200) Building Second Floor Remodel: A bid-job walk was held on Apr. 15.
  1. Roofing Repairs / Replacements at Business & Math (M), Arts & Humanities (H), and College Police (T1) Buildings: First bid-job walk was held on Apr. 16.
  1. Air Handling Unit (AHU) Upgrades/Refurbishment at Science (S-6) Building: First bid-job walk was held on Apr. 17.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. New Site for San Diego College of Continuing Education: Design-Build RFQ/P responses were reviewed from Apr. 13–20.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Theatre Renovation: The foundational system for the new sculptural steel trellis canopy at the building’s main entry was completed on Apr. 16. Due to the scale of the canopy, each of the four column supports includes a 3-foot-thick concrete pile cap over four 12-foot-deep drilled piers.
  1. ECC Building Trades Training Center: A swing space coordination meeting was held on Apr. 17.
  1. CE Mesa Building Envelope: An improvements design meeting was held on Apr. 16. A swing space coordination meeting was held on Apr. 17.
  1. ECC Ceramics: A swing space coordination meeting was held on Apr. 17.
  1. ECC Community Room: A meeting to discuss a budget increase with the Executive Project Review Committee was held on Apr. 17.
  1. West City Expansion: A meeting to discuss a budget increase with the Executive Project Review Committee was held on Apr. 17.

City College:

  1. ‘A’ Building Expansion: A meeting with the dean’s leadership group is scheduled for Apr. 24. A seventh workshop part I and part II schematic design focus on enterprise services is scheduled for Apr. 22 and Apr. 24.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: A Division of the State Architect (DSA) pre-application meeting is scheduled for Apr. 24.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: Follow-up site and utility meetings will be scheduled with DBE electrical and telecom consultants and district facilities.
  1. Athletics Complex: Schematic design focus group meetings with beach volleyball, gym sports, athletic training, student success, operations, physical education, baseball/softball, aquatics, stadium sports, and throws park stakeholder groups are scheduled for Apr. 22–23.
  1. Design Center Improvements: A biweekly progress meeting is scheduled for Apr. 20 to review design, project status, and next steps.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: A third Design Development (DD) workshop with stakeholders will be held on Apr. 24.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery: The DBE team will continue development of the schematic design. A third Design Development (DD) workshop with stakeholders will be held on Apr. 20.
  1. Early Education Center: The district will review schematic design deliverables. A third Design Development (DD) workshop with stakeholders will be held on Apr. 22.
  1. Roofing Repairs / Replacements at Business & Math (M), Arts & Humanities (H), and College Police (T1) Buildings: A second bid-job walk is scheduled for Apr. 20.

  1. New Site for San Diego College of Continuing Education: Thirteen proposals were received.

Other District Locations:

  1. Financial Systems & Controls Improvements: The controls team now has access to create new requisitions in PeopleSoft (financial and procurement system), helping to balance workload. Training took place the week of Apr. 13. An initial meeting with IT was held on Apr. 13 to improve nightly PeopleSoft data export, which is used in Simplifier (project cost management and reconciliation tool) to support reconciliation between cost systems.
  1. Operations, Enterprise Services, and Facilities (OESF) Help Desk: The help desk is fully operational, with the team leveraging the district’s IT help desk to manage questions related to OESF software, including Simplifier. A total of 45 tickets have been resolved out of 51.
  1. Completed Projects: As of Apr. 16, a total of 23 projects have been completed across the district. The totals below reflect the number of projects completed at each location: City College: 7, Mesa College: 2, Miramar College: 3, College of Continuing Education: 5, District: 6.
