Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:
City College:
- ‘A’ Building Expansion: A meeting with the dean’s leadership group was held on Apr. 24. Additionally, two Schematic Design (SD) workshops were held on Apr. 22 and Apr. 24.
- Saville Theatre Replacement: A Division of the State Architect (DSA) pre-application meeting was held on Apr. 24.
Mesa College:
- Athletics Complex: SD focus groups with stakeholder groups were held on Apr. 22–23. A project coordination meeting was held on Apr. 22 to review site investigation lessons learned.
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The project coordination meeting held on Apr. 22 focused on site investigation lessons learned.
Miramar College:
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: A third DD workshop was held on Apr. 20 with stakeholders, focusing on the building’s exterior design.
- Air Handling Unit (AHU) Upgrades/Refurbishment at Science (S-6) Building: The second bid walk was held on Apr. 21.
- Early Education Center: On Apr. 22, stakeholders attended a third DD workshop and met with the landscape architect to discuss play yard landscaping needs.
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center (AIC): On Apr. 24, the district met with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) consultant to discuss implications of the environmental analysis. Additionally, a third Design Development (DD) workshop was held with stakeholders.
College of Continuing Education:
- New Site for San Diego College of Continuing Education: Design-build proposal reviews took place Apr. 13–20. A proposal scoring review meeting was held on Apr. 21, followed by an interview selection meeting on Apr. 22.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:
City College:
- ‘A’ Building Expansion: A design review meeting is scheduled for Apr. 29. An eighth design workshop focusing on SD is scheduled for May 1.
- Saville Theatre Replacement: A hazardous materials survey walkthrough is scheduled for Apr. 28. A 50% SD review with President Shabazz is scheduled for Apr. 29.
- D Building: A hazardous materials survey walkthrough is scheduled for Apr. 28.
Mesa College:
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: Follow-up site and utility meetings will be scheduled with the Design Build Entity (DBE) electrical and telecom consultants and district facilities staff.
- Athletics Complex: An irrigation site visit is scheduled for Apr. 28, and utilities and site utilities visits are scheduled for Apr. 29.
- Design Center Improvements: The team will coordinate access control standards with the districtwide standard initiative.
Miramar College:
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The City will provide feedback the week of Apr. 27 on the lease memo submitted by the district.
- Early Education Center: The DBE will develop a logistics plan for phase one of construction. A meeting with campus leadership will be scheduled to review the plan and address concerns.
- Roofing Repairs / Replacements at Business & Math (M), Arts & Humanities (H), and College Police (T1) Buildings: Bids are due Apr. 30.
- Air Handling Unit Upgrades/Refurbishment at Science (S-6) Building: Bids are due May 1.
- Police Academy (A-200) Second Floor Remodel: Bids are due Apr. 27.
College of Continuing Education:
- New Site for San Diego College of Continuing Education: Interviews with the DBEs are scheduled for Apr. 30.

Key Items of Interest:
- Simplifier: Continued enhancements to internal tracking and troubleshooting tools. A new report was developed to support the Purchase Order (PO) rollover process.
- Geographic Information System (GIS): The GIS server was temporarily taken offline the week of Apr. 20 to address potential cybersecurity concerns.
- SDCCD Spring Districtwide Career Fair: Teams from the DBEs will participate in career fair events at City College and Miramar College on Apr. 29.
- Energy Innovation & Infrastructure Media Feature: The San Diego Business Journal recently featured an interview with Vice Chancellor Dr. Joel Peterson on the district’s energy initiatives. The article highlights ongoing efforts at City College, including the use of linear generator technology in the new student housing project, alongside existing solar and hydrogen fuel cell systems.
- CMAA San Diego Annual Awards Banquet: Vice Chancellor Dr. Peterson will serve as the keynote speaker, and Associate Vice Chancellor Aurora Ayala will receive an award on Apr. 28.
- Miramar College – Parking Garage Overhead Doors (G3 and G4) Building: The 90% Construction Documents (CD) submittal will be delayed to accommodate the new district requirement that all grilles in the parking structure be stainless steel.
- College of Continuing Education – Parking Structure Garage Overhead Doors: The 90% CD submittal will be delayed to accommodate the new district requirement that all grilles in the parking structure be stainless steel.
