Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. Harry West Gym: TRC Companies (consultant) provided fee proposals for hazardous materials survey and report on May 5.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: TRC Companies provided fee proposals for hazardous materials survey and report on May 5. Interviews for the Design Build Entity (DBE) Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) consultants were held on May 7 and May 8.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: TRC Companies provided fee proposals for hazardous materials survey and report on May 5. Fire hydrant flow testing within the SDCCD right-of-way was coordinated with Hiller Companies (contractor) on May 8. The Bloom Energy (energy generator provider) team also provided relocation options for review for the existing hydrogen fuel cells near Russ Blvd.
  1. Outdoor Athletics Expansion: Geotechnical reports were received on May 8.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: An additional administration suite review meeting was held on May 4 with the DBE and the district to further refine institutional effectiveness and foundation group space and personnel needs.
  1. Athletics Complex: A geotechnical investigation scope review meeting with the DBE, district design team, and geotechnical engineers was held on May 7. A second Schematic Design (SD) workshop with the DBE and Mesa architecture/design students was held on May 8.
  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Emergency Exit Guardrail Level 3: Construction began on May 8.
  1. Design Center Improvements: Roof fall protection issues were reviewed with the DBE and district.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery: A fourth Design Development (DD) workshop with stakeholders was held on May 4. This meeting focused on the building interior.
  1. Early Education Center: A fourth DD workshop with the DBE and stakeholders was held on May 6. This meeting focused on the landscaping, layout, and needs of the play yard. The design team submitted their Increment 1 50% DD deliverable on May 5.
  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center (AIC): A fourth DD workshop was held with the DBE and stakeholders on May 8. This meeting had a focus on finishes for the interior and exterior of the building.
  1. Fire Alarm & Intrusion at Multiple Buildings (F1, H, J1, J2, J3, J4, J5, LLRC, M, P1, S2, S4 and T1): A site discovery walk to collect field data and initiate design was held on May 8.
  1. Air Handling Unit Upgrades/Refurbishment at Science (S-6) Building: Bids were received on May 8.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. West City Expansion: A plan and scope review and strategy meeting with DPR was held on May 6.
  1. CE Mesa Building Envelope: An improvement stakeholder meeting was held on May 7.
  1. CE Harbor View Vocational Nurse Simulation Lab: HGW Architects is on board to provide concept programming. A meeting with Dean Shafer and the CE team was held on May 7.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Theatre: A Terrazzo mock-up review was held on May 8.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:

 

City College:

  1. Outdoor Athletics Expansion and Upgrades: The geotechnical report is scheduled to be submitted to the Division of the State Architect (DSA) for determination regarding the California Geological Survey (CGS) submittal scheduled during the week of May 11.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: An updated fee proposal for seismic trench investigation and removal of six eucalyptus trees within the impact area is expected during the week of May 11.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: Workshop meetings are scheduled as follows: Enterprise Services on May 13, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) on May 14, and Student Affairs/Outreach and Enrollment Services/Student Development and Matriculation on May 15.
  1. Re-roof at Exercise Science (“P” Building): The project is docketed for the May 14 board meeting recommending a contract award for A. Preman Roofing.
  1. Overhead Garage Door Replacement at Arts & Humanities (“AH” Building): The project is on the docket for the May 14 board meeting recommending a contract award to Creative Builds, LLC.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: A follow-up site and utility investigation meeting will be scheduled with the DBE electrical consultants and district. Additional SD workshop design meetings with the DBE and Mesa architecture/design students are scheduled for May 11 and May 12.
  1. Athletics Complex: A second SD workshop focus group session is scheduled for May 13 and 15 with the DBE and district design team.
  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Carpet Replacement: The project is on the docket for the May 14 board meeting recommending a contract award to Patcraft (carpet material) and Prospectra (installer).
  1. Design Center Improvements: The district design team continues to finalize Construction Documents (CD) set for DSA submission.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE is scheduled to meet with the dean of the library on May 11 to discuss the writing center design in the new building.
  1. Early Education Center: The district will review the Increment 1 50% DD deliverable. A student engagement workshop will be held on May 11 with early education center students to gather input on how the building can better support students.
  1. Police Academy (A-200) Building Remodel at Second Floor: The project is on the docket for the May 14 board meeting recommending a contract award to All Source Company.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. West City Expansion: The project is on the docket for the May 14 board meeting requesting approval of a budget increase.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Ceramics: The project is on the docket for the May 14 board meeting requesting approval of a budget increase.
  1. Mid-City Expansion: The project is on the docket for the May 14 board meeting to award the work to the recommended DBE.

Key Items of Interest:

  1. Financial Business Service (FBS): AI processing tools experienced several days of downtime. The team is proactively following up to ensure invoices submitted during that period are processed. The team is monitoring for similar impacts related to the current SDCCD systems outage.
  1. Fiscal Year Transition: Tentative plans are underway to meet with the audit team the week of May 11 in preparation for the fiscal year transition.
  1. Simplifier: Project budget adjustments were completed to reflect actions approved at the Apr. 16 Board of Trustees meeting.
  1. Solar Purchase: The Measure HH team is pursuing the purchase of the leased solar inventory at nine campus locations, from two solar companies, Forefront Power and Clean Capital.
  1. Emergency Communication System IT Upgrade: 95% Construction Documents (CDs) have been received, and the stakeholder review process has begun.

  1. “A” Building Expansion: The DBE team is seeking district direction on the proposed relocation of the Bloom Energy fuel cell yard to the area by Park Blvd. and “C” Street. The proposed location may conflict with a potential MTS lease expansion, and confirmation is needed on whether the amended lease will proceed.
