Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion: Workshop meetings were held as follows: Enterprise Services on May 13, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) on May 14, and Student Affairs/Outreach and Enrollment Services/Student Development and Matriculation on May 15.
  1. Re-roof at Exercise Science (“P”) Building: A. Preman Roofing was recommended for award at the May 14 board meeting.
  1. Overhead Garage Door Replacement at Arts & Humanities (“AH” Building): A change order to Creative Builds, LLC contract was considered at the May 14 board meeting.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: An updated fee proposal for seismic trench investigation and removal of six eucalyptus trees within the impact area was received on May 14.
  1. Outdoor Athletics Expansion and Upgrades: The geotechnical report was submitted to the Division of the State Architect (DSA) on May 15 for determination regarding California Geological Survey (CGS) submittal requirements.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: A second schematic design workshop with the Design-Build Entity (DBE) and Mesa architecture/design students was held on May 11 and May 12.
  1. Athletics Complex: A second schematic design workshop focus group session was held on May 13 and 15 with the DBE and district design team.
  1. Design Center Improvements: The DSA review fee check request continued to be processed.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Early Education Center: The DBE held a student engagement workshop with Child Development students on May 11.
  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center (AIC): The DBE submitted the 50% Design Development (DD) deliverable on May 13.
  1. Air Handling Unit Upgrades/Refurbishment at Science (S-6) Building: A post-bid meeting was held on May 15.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. West City Expansion: A budget increase was on the agenda at the May 14 board meeting.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Ceramics: A budget increase was on the agenda at the May 14 board meeting.
  1. New Site for San Diego College of Continuing Education: Project was awarded to Hensel Phelps at the May 14 board meeting.
  1. ECC Theatre Renovation: A terrazzo mock-up review was held on May 15.

 

 Other District Locations:

  1. Contractor Networking Event: A planning workshop for all eight DBEs was held on May 14 in preparation for the DB meet-and-greet event on June 10.

 

Coming Week Look-Ahead:

 

City College:

  1. Lighting Inverters: Bid advertisement is scheduled for May 18.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: A DSA pre-application meeting is scheduled for May 19.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: A Schematic Design (SD) workshop with the counseling department is scheduled for May 19. A SD review meeting is scheduled for May 20.
  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Fluid Applied Roofing: A pre-construction/pre-roofing conference is scheduled for May 18.
  1. Early Education Center Shade Structure: Conceptual design drawings are due on May 25.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Carpet Replacement: Carpet supplier Patcraft and installer Prospectra were recommended for award at the May 14 board meeting.
  1. Design Center Improvements: DSA plan submission is scheduled for May 18.
  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: A facilities SD plan set page-turn meeting is scheduled for May 19.
  1. Athletics Complex: A meeting to review geotechnical and site investigation proposals, Notice to Proceed (NTP), and logistics planning will be scheduled the week of May 18. A physical planning meeting with the DBE is scheduled for May 21.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Police Academy (A-200) Building Remodel at Second Floor: All Source Company was recommended for award at the May 14 board meeting.
  1. Early Education Center: The district will review the Increment 1 50% DD deliverable during the week of May 18.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE will hold a student engagement workshop with the English, art, and music students during the week of May 18. The DBE and Miramar leadership will also meet on May 20 to review updated exterior renderings and gather campus feedback.
  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The district will review the 50% Design Development (DD) deliverable. A fifth DD workshop will be held on May 22 with stakeholders. The meeting will include a page-turn review of the DD deliverable and discussion regarding AV equipment within the building.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Welding: An air filtration system meeting is scheduled for May 21.
  1. New Site for San Diego College of Continuing Education: A project kickoff meeting with the DBE is scheduled for May 21.
  1. Mesa Building Envelope Improvement: A project design meeting with stakeholders is scheduled for May 21.

  1. Emergency Communication System IT Upgrade: The stakeholder review process is underway. Comments are due on May 19.

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion – Bloom Energy Relocation: District direction will be needed on the proposed relocation of the existing hydrogen fuel cell site once the revised cost and impact analysis is completed within the next two weeks.
