Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Fluid Applied Roofing: A pre-construction/pre-roofing conference was held on May 18.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: A Division of the State Architect (DSA) pre-application meeting was held on May 19. An updated fee proposal was received for seismic trench investigation and removal of six eucalyptus trees within the impacted area and has been internally approved.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: A Schematic Design (SD) workshop with the counseling department was held on May 19. An SD review meeting was held on May 20.
  1. Career Technology Center (V-101) Building Auditorium Seating Replacement: Proposals from Herk Edwards for seating and A&A Flooring for carpet was routed for contracting on May 20.
  1. Lighting Inverters at (AH, B, BT, L, M, MS, P, S, V) Buildings and Garfield Parking Structure: The first bid job walk was held on May 22.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Design Center Improvements: Plans were submitted to DSA on May 18.
  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: To support construction planning for the project, to be located on the north hillside of the campus between the I4 building and the baseball fields, a pre-construction walk for mid-slope and baseball field borings/geophysical testing was held May 20.
  1. Emergency Call Button Expansion: A meeting was held on May 20 to initiate discussions with the campus.
  1. Athletics Complex: A physical planning meeting with the Design Build Entity (DBE) was held on May 21.
  1. Mechanical Unit Replacement (S-100) Building: The first bid walk was held on May 22.
  1. Gym Floor Repair: A pre-construction meeting was held on May 22.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Early Education Center: The DBE met with district IT, security, and AV teams to discuss the technology designs on May 19.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE met with campus leadership on May 20 to present updated exterior renderings of the building. A follow-up site walk with VPA Battisti and the DBE was held on May 21.
  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center (AIC): A fifth Design Development (DD) workshop was held on May 22 with stakeholders. The meeting included a page-turn review of the DD deliverable and discussion regarding AV equipment within the building.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. CE Mesa Building Envelope Improvement: A project design meeting with stakeholders was held on May 21. A meeting with geotechnical, hazard materials testing and landscape engineers was held on May 18 and 19. A DSA pre-application meeting with design team was held on May 20.
  1. New Site for San Diego College of Continuing Education: A project kickoff meeting with the recently selected DBE, Hensel Phelps and Carrier Johnson+Culture was held on May 21.
  1. Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Welding: An air filtration system meeting was held on May 21.

 

 Other District Locations:

  1. Campus Lighting Luminosity Study: A Notice to Proceed (NTP) was issued on May 19 to Shadpour Engineering.

 

Coming Week Look-Ahead:

 

City College:

  1. Early Education Center Shade Structure: Conceptual design drawings are due on May 25.
  1. “A” Building Expansion: A mid-schematic design presentation to President Shabazz is scheduled for May 26.
  1. Lighting Inverters: A second bid walk is scheduled for May 29.
  1. Fire Alarm & Intrusion Alarm Replacement: A site survey walk is scheduled for May 29.
  1. Saville Theatre Replacement: The project is en route to receiving NTP.
  1. Outdoor Athletics Expansion and Upgrades: A geotechnical report is en route for California Geological Survey (CGS) submittal.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Learning Resource Center (LRC) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Network Cabling Checkout Gates: Campus indicated they will fund a second year of software and support licenses. Biblioteca (vendor) is revising its proposal, anticipated by May 25, to include a five-month lease for the tagging station.
  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The 100% SD milestone for the early package and parking structure will be submitted by the DBE on May 25. Additional mid-slope and baseball field borings/geophysical testing are scheduled for May 26 and 28.
  1. Athletics Complex: A DSA pre-application meeting is scheduled for May 26 with the DBE and DSA. A DBE and district tour of the California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) Health & Wellness site is scheduled for May 27.
  1. Mechanical Unit Replacement (S-100) Building: A second bid walk is scheduled for May 29.
  1. Parking Garage Overhead Doors (PS) Building: Preparation of bid documents will begin for tentative advertisement on Jun. 1.
  1. Design Center Improvements: The DSA plan set will be sent to Kitchell Estimating for 100% CD estimate.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Early Education Center: The district will review the Increment 1 50% Design Development deliverable during the week of May 25.
  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center (AIC): The district will review the 50% DD deliverable during the week of May 25.
  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: A fifth Design Development (DD) workshop with stakeholders will be held on May 28 to review updated exterior design concepts of the building.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. New Site for San Diego College of Continuing Education: A meet-and-greet with Hensel Phelps and Carrier Johnson+Culture (DBE) and campus leadership is scheduled for May 26.

Key Items of Interest:

  1. Emergency Communication System IT Upgrade: The 95% Construction Documents stakeholder review process has begun. All comments are due by May 26. The consultant is expected to provide a budgetary Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimate by the end of May.
  1. Operations, Enterprise Services, and Facilities (OESF): The team’s current focus is submitting the Measure HH fiscal year budget to Fiscal Services week of May 25 to meet the deadline.
  1. Project Closeout: There are currently 18 projects in the closeout phase across all district campuses.
