Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:
City College:
- “A” Building Expansion: A Schematic Design (SD) presentation to President Shabazz was held on May 26.
- Early Education Center Shade Structure: A conceptual design meeting with the campus was held on May 27.
- Collegewide Survey: A boundary review meeting with the campus civil engineer was held on May 28.
- Saville Theatre Replacement: A meeting with the geotechnical consultant to review geotechnical exploration results was held on May 28. A team building event was held on May 28.
- Lighting Inverters at (AH, B, BT, L, M, MS, P, S, V) Buildings and the Garfield Parking Structure: The second bid job walk was held on May 29.
- Fire Alarm & Intrusion Alarm Replacement: A site survey walk was held on May 29.
Mesa College:
- Mesa Commons West Warehouse Window: A request for proposals was issued on May 26 to qualified contractors for window replacement work. Because the project is estimated at under $75,000, it is being procured under informal procedures under California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting Act (CUPCCAA) guidelines.
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: To support construction planning for the project, which will be located on the north hillside of campus between the I4 Building and the baseball fields, an additional pre-construction walk for mid-slope and baseball field borings/geophysical testing was held May 26–28.
- Athletics Complex: A Division of the State Architect (DSA) pre-application meeting and geotechnical pre-construction logistics meeting were held on May 26. A Notice to Proceed (NTP) for geotechnical work was issued on May 27, followed by a tour of the California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) Health & Wellness site.
- Mechanical Unit Replacement (S-100) Building: A second bid job walk was held on May 29.
- Fire Sprinkler Backflow Valve Replacement at Humanities and Multi-Cultural Studies (G-100) and Learning Resource Center (LRC) Library: A construction kick-off meeting with campus staff and the contractor was held on May 29.
- Parking Garage Overhead Doors (PS) Building: Preparation of bid documents began for tentative advertisement on Jun. 1.
Miramar College:
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE met with campus leadership during the week of Jun. 1 to discuss updated exterior design concepts for the building.
- Early Education Center: The DBE conducted a site walk to review exterior storage needs during the week of Jun. 1.
College of Continuing Education:
- New Site for San Diego College of Continuing Education: A meet-and-greet with Hensel Phelps and Carrier Johnson+Culture (DBE) and campus leadership was held on May 26.
- Mid-City Repair Expansion Joint Sealant: A construction kickoff meeting was held on May 26.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:
City College:
- “A” Building Expansion: A DSA pre-application meeting is scheduled for Jun. 2, followed by a campus safety review follow-up meeting on Jun. 4. An off-site kitchen visit for potential future swing space is scheduled for Jun. 5.
- Harry West Gym: A DSA pre-application meeting is scheduled for Jun. 3.
Mesa College:
- Athletics Complex: Geotechnical borings are scheduled to begin Jun. 1 and continue through Jun. 18.
- Gym Floor Repair: Construction is scheduled to begin on Jun. 2.
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: The 100% SD milestone for the early package and parking structure is scheduled for Jun. 2 with facilities and Jun. 5 with the district design team.
- Design Center Improvements: The DSA plan set will be sent to Kitchell Estimating for the 100% Construction Documents (CD) estimate.
Miramar College:
- Early Education Center: The DBE team is scheduled to conduct a site walk during the week of Jun. 1 to review exterior storage needs.
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE team will meet with campus leadership during the week of Jun. 1 to discuss updated exterior design concepts for the building.
College of Continuing Education:
- New Site for San Diego College of Continuing Education: A design kick-off meeting with stakeholders is scheduled for Jun. 4.
- Mid-City Repair Expansion Joint Sealant: Construction is scheduled to begin Jun. 2.
- West City Expansion: A SD meeting with stakeholders is scheduled for Jun. 3.

Key Items of Interest:
- San Diego County Taxpayer Association Bond Forum: Vice Chancellor Dr. Peterson served as a keynote speaker at the bond forum on May 27. The event was also attended and sponsored by the three Project Management Organization (PMO) teams.
- SDSU/SDCCD Joint Science Building at SDSU Mission Valley: The Request for Qualifications/Proposals (RFQ/P) was advertised on PlanetBids on May 28.
- Emergency Communication System IT Upgrade: A scope overview meeting to discuss key operational and accessibility considerations with the campuses is scheduled for Jun. 3.
Upcoming Needed Campus Action Items (Time Sensitive):
Miramar College:
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: Campus feedback on the exterior renderings will impact the project design and delay the Schematic Design (SD) deliverable. The SD deliverable was originally anticipated on Jun. 1 and is now expected on Jun. 15.
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The district may pursue an alternate site location. Design efforts are continuing; however, a site change would have a significant impact on the project schedule and may result in additional project costs.
