Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:
City College:
- “A” Building Expansion: A site walk with the landscape architect and campus grounds lead was held on Jun. 8, followed by a dean’s meeting to review the Schematic Design (SD) package. An SD update was provided to President Shabazz and campus leadership on Jun. 9. Sewer and storm drain system camera inspections were conducted on Jun. 11 and Jun. 12.
- Saville Theatre Replacement: A 100% SD package review with Operations, Enterprise Services, and Facilities (OESF) was held on Jun. 8.
- Lighting Inverters at (AH, B, BT, L, M, MS, P, S, V) Buildings and the Garfield Parking Structure: Contractor bids were received on Jun. 11.
- Career Technology Center (V-101) Building Auditorium Seating Replacement: Campus material selections, including carpet and seating finishes, were finalized on Jun. 12.
Mesa College:
- Design Center Improvements: Plans were under review by the Division of the State Architect (DSA) during the week of Jun. 8.
- Athletics Complex: A third SD workshop was held on Jun. 9 and Jun. 10 with a focus on gym sports, weight room/athletic training, concessions, stadium sports, and throw sports.
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: A third main theater workshop was held on Jun. 11 with the stakeholders.
- Secondary Emergency Call Button Expansion: Feedback from the district design team was received on Jun. 12.
- Learning Resource Center (LRC) Emergency Generator: The formal bid advertisement launched on Jun. 15.
Miramar College:
- Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The geotechnical engineer completed borings during the week of Jun. 8.
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The Design-Build Entity (DBE) presented alternative exterior rendering options to campus leadership on Jun. 8 for review and feedback.
- Early Education Center: The DBE submitted the 100% increment 1 Design Development (DD) deliverable on Jun. 8. A design workshop was held on Jun. 10 with stakeholders to review and provide feedback on interior and exterior design features and elements.
- Parking Garage Doors (G3) & Gate Replacement (G4) Building: The formal bid advertisement launched on Jun. 15.
College of Continuing Education:
- Educational Cultural Complex (ECC) Theatre Renovation: A site tour for welding students was held on Jun. 11.
- New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: An initial stakeholder meeting prep with the DBE was held on Jun. 12.
- New Facilities Building: A Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued on Jun. 12. Proposals are due on July 14.
- CE Harbor View Parking Garage Doors & Gate Replacement: The formal bid advertisement launched on Jun. 15.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:
City College:
- Harry West Gym AC: A 90% Construction Documents (CD) review with the architects is scheduled for Jun. 15.
- Saville Theatre Replacement: A meeting to update President Shabazz and campus leadership is scheduled for Jun. 15, followed by a DSA pre-application meeting focused on accessibility on Jun. 16.
- Future Outdoor Amphitheatre: A programming kick-off meeting is scheduled for Jun. 18.
Mesa College:
- Athletics Complex: An SD meeting focused on aquatics is scheduled for Jun. 15.
- Design Center Improvements: The 100% CD estimate is expected during the week of Jun. 15.
- Parking Garage Overhead Door & Gate Replacement (PS) Building: The formal bid advertisement is scheduled to launch on Jun. 15.
- Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: A third SD workshop was held on Jun. 17 and Jun. 18 with a focus on site/landscape/exterior, admin, massing, materiality/finishes, venues, and dance. A DSA pre-application meeting is scheduled for Jun. 19.
- Humanities and Multicultural Studies (G) Building and Learning Resources Center (LRC) Building Backflow Replacement: Construction is scheduled to begin on Jun. 19.
Miramar College:
- Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE will meet with campus leadership during the week of Jun. 15 to discuss updated exterior design concepts for the building.
- Early Education Center: The district will review the increment 1 100% DD deliverable during the week of Jun. 15.
- Aquatic Center Deck Surfacing and Drains: The district review comments are due Jun. 15.
- Police Academy Building A2 HVAC (10 Classrooms and 2 Offices): Site mobilization is scheduled to begin on Jun. 15, following a review of the construction schedule with campus leadership and the Police Department.
College of Continuing Education:
- New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: A design kick-off meeting with the stakeholders is scheduled for Jun. 17.
- West City Expansion: An SD meeting with stakeholders is scheduled for Jun. 17.
- CE-Wide Lighting Inverters: A mandatory pre-bid job walk conference is scheduled for Jun. 18.

Key Items of Interest:
- Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC): The CBOC held its quarterly meeting on Jun. 8 and received updates on all Measure HH projects. The committee is an independent group of community volunteers appointed to monitor the expenditure of voter-approved bond funds.
- Emergency Communication System (ECS) IT Upgrade: A scope overview meeting was held with Continuing Education on Jun. 8 to review the project and provide stakeholders with an opportunity to offer feedback as the design progresses and prior to construction contract award. A review meeting with Mesa College is scheduled for Jun. 11.
- DBE Meet & Greet: A contractor networking event was held on Jun. 10 at Miramar College. The event connected contractors, specialty trades, small businesses, and diverse firms with Measure HH Design-Build teams to learn about upcoming opportunities and build industry partnerships. There were more than 165 participants and attendees.
- The Measure HH Small Business Outreach Team was invited to participate as an exhibitor at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Small Business Expo on June 11, joining agencies such as San Diego Unified, Southwestern Community College, and several local general contractors.
- OESF: The team is currently working to compile documents in response to a meeting with the auditor last week.
