Capital Renovation and Renewals
Capital Renewal and Renovation (CRR) projects are Measure HH–funded improvements that keep campus facilities safe, functional, and up to date. Unlike the district's major construction initiatives, CRR projects are typically discrete, targeted renovations, replacements, and upgrades - though their scope and cost can vary widely, from minor fixture replacements to larger system overhauls. Nearly 200 CRR projects are planned, underway, or closed out across the district's campuses, spanning four core categories:
- Infrastructure Upgrades – Renewing or replacing essential mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, such as chillers, wiring, and utility components.
- Safety & Code Compliance – Site improvements addressing immediate safety priorities, security upgrades, and accessibility modifications (ADA compliance).
- Facility Modernization – Minor room remodels, interior refurbishments, and updates to aging fixtures or finishes in active-use spaces.
- Site Improvements – Exterior touch-ups, pathway upgrades, security gate installations, and localized fixture replacements.
Given the high volume of CRR work, projects under $220,000 in construction value are generally smaller in scope and closed out on a short timeline, often within days or weeks rather than months or years. These projects are tracked collectively in the tables below rather than given individual project pages. Larger or longer-duration CRR projects, which involve more extensive planning and construction, are featured on their own dedicated project page.
