SMS/Text Messaging Terms of Use
The San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) uses SMS (text) messaging to communicate important information to students. By providing your mobile phone number and opting in to receive text messages, you consent to receive SMS communications from SDCCD and its colleges, including San Diego City College, San Diego Mesa College, San Diego Miramar College, and San Diego College of Continuing Education.

Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply according to your wireless carrier plan.

For your security, SDCCD will never request passwords, Social Security numbers, financial account information, or other sensitive personal information via text message. Students should not send confidential or personally sensitive information through SMS.
SDCCD does not sell or share mobile phone numbers with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Opting Out of Text Messages
Marketing Messages
You may opt out of marketing and outreach text messages at any time by replying STOP to the text message.
After replying STOP, you will receive a confirmation message and will no longer receive marketing text messages from SDCCD.
Transactional Messages
To manage or discontinue transactional text messages, log in to MySDCCD, select My Personal Information, and under Notification Preferences, update “Enable SMS”.
Please note that opting out of transactional messages may prevent you from receiving important information regarding enrollment appointments, drop warnings, payments, financial aid, academic deadlines, and student services.
Help
For assistance regarding text messaging, reply HELP to a text message.

Emergency Notifications
SDCCD uses the RAVE Alert emergency notification system to send urgent safety and emergency notifications to students and employees.
Emergency alerts may be sent during situations involving health, safety, or significant disruptions to campus operations. These notifications may also be provided through email, the SDCCD Safe app, website postings, and social media channels.

While SDCCD does not charge for emergency text notifications, message and data rates may apply based on your wireless carrier plan.
Because emergency alerts may contain critical safety information, SDCCD strongly recommends that staff and students remain subscribed to these notifications.

Changes to These Terms
SDCCD may update these SMS/Text Messaging Terms of Use from time to time. Any updates will be posted on the SDCCD website and become effective upon posting.
