Career Education & Workforce Professional Development
Career Education Leadership and Career Services Leadership at all four SDCCD colleges have requested increased support for career education and workforce faculty and staff professional development.
2025-26 Programming
Purpose: Establish a regular, timely, ongoing series of professional development opportunities for faculty on topics related to essential components of Career Education and workforce development. This professional development series will begin a years-long process of training, faculty engagement, and continuous improvement as we find new and better ways to support our faculty who serve our students.
Fall 2025
- State of CTE – Districtwide Summit - September 23 | 9am – 11am | In person | Location Details
- Engage in a review of regional workforce needs and learn about SDCCE CTE program outcomes, statistics, and general information. Presented in collaboration with San Diego-Imperial Center of Excellence. College Senior Leadership roles encouraged to attend. Register here.
- Advisory Committees Workshop - October 2 | 1:30pm - 3pm | Modality Details | Location Details
- Learn about the important role of required CTE industry advisory committees, engage in best practices, review the districtwide handbook, requirements, and resources. Register here.
- Career Services Workshop – October 15 | 3pm – 4:30pm | Online | Zoom
- Join this workshop to learn about districtwide career services tools and resources and dive into college-specific services. Each college will showcase their local career services and engage faculty in discussion on how best to connect students to these services. Meet your local career services leads and explore the districtwide job board, WBL reporting structure, and the local roles available to support employer engagement in your classrooms. Register here.

- First annual Districtwide Summit showing casing Work-based Learning promising practices, workshops, and resources; Faculty-led presentations and workshops. Register here.

- Employment Outcomes Workshop- Date TBD - Presentation of new, expanded wage and employment outcomes data for CTE Programs; facilitated dialogue regarding post-completion outcomes.
- CTE Code Alignment Workshop - Date TBD - Review and training on CTE Code Alignment (SAM, TOP, CIP, SOC), funding implications, program requirements, etc. Center of Excellence to support workshop components in partnership with District Instructional Services.
- VR within CTE Classrooms & Career Services Workshop - Date TBD - In partnership with District’s Institutional Innovation and Effectiveness Division, this workshop will showcase current uses of virtual reality in career services and CTE classroom.
