SDWP SDCCD Joint Partnership Committee

The San Diego Workforce Partnership (workforce Partnership) and The San Diego Community College District formed a Joint Partnership Committee in Spring 2021 to strengthen partnership opportunities and develop a structure to support collaborative activities.

At that time, this Joint Partnership was focused on three primary areas of collaboration:

  1. Referrals and Recruitment
  2. Program and Process Awareness
  3. Job Placement & Employability

Each year, priority projects were identified and pursued through the districtwide committee and workgroups. 

The Joint Partnership is tied to districtwide workforce development goals and the SDCCD Board of Trustees board goals.

  • SDCCD 2021-2022 Board Goal #14.4: Continuing the productive working relationship with the Board of the San Diego Workforce Partnership to jointly address workforce needs in the region including advocacy for racial equity in employment and compensation as a priority for the San Diego Workforce Partnership and the region.

Additionally, senior leadership of both organizations collaborate in other ways:

  • San Diego Workforce Partnership leadership participates on the SDCCD Corporate Council 
  • SDCCD College Presidents (rotating representation) particpates on San Diego Workforce Partnership's Board.

Priority Projects:

  • 2025-26: Re-connections; direct College engagement for exploration of co-location; priority population collaborations
  • 2024-25: ETPL statewide and federal advocacy and general regional engagement/collaboration
  • 2023-24: Outreach & Community Engagement, Employer Engagement, Sector Connections, Career Center Collaboration (Customer/Student Facing Services), and Data Exchange & Engagement | May 2024 Update

2025-26 Partnership Activities

2025-26 partnership activiites focused on re-connecting and confirming new lead points of contact. Meetings held focused on:

  • Continued data sharing
  • Exploraiton of partnership opportunities for special/priority populations
  • Career Center partnership activities and events

    • Monthly Joint Partnership Committee Meeting put per SDWP leadership request
    • Employer Engagement Subcommittee on hold per SDWP leadership request
    • College committee members encouraged participate in regional partnership opportunities with the SDWP
  • 9/6/24 SDWP & SD Community College Consortium Collaboration Event
  • November 2024:
    • Regional Partnership activities put on hold due to transitions in SDWP leadership and changes in roles; plans to re-start regional efforts scheduled for spring 2025
