Mariah Jameson is the first Black woman elected to the Board of Trustees. She holds an associate degree from San Diego City College, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Clark Atlanta University. As an undergraduate, Mariah participated in the development of the book Reclaiming Our Stories 2, becoming a published author. She is a recipient of the Guardian Scholar Award from the Blue Heart Foundation which is awarded to former foster youth who are advocates for others and a role model to their community. Additionally, she was awarded the Silver Legacy Award by the Affect the Youth foundation for her community service work. In 2023, Mariah was selected to speak as the keynote speaker for San Diego City College Social Justice conference; bringing awareness to Foster Care and what "Aging Out" of the system looks like. Mariah is currently employed as a Community Engagement Representative and Policy Associate for San Diego County Supervisor Monica Montgomery Steppe. In addition to her role with the Supervisor Montgomery Steppe, Mariah expands her impact through research as a Research Associate with Rise Research & Evaluation, which affirms Social Justice while focusing on the intersection of art, culture and wellness.
